| Each year, RIT Baja SAE competes in an international competition sponsored and organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The mini-baja competition itself consists of three regional competitions within the United States, and one international competition held somewhere in the western hemisphere. One car is entered per team, but some schools, such as ourselves, have the manpower and detirmination to enter multiple teams. The cars themselves are off-road vehicles that must be capable of surviving and excelling on a course consisting of rough terrain, jumps, and sometimes even bodies of water that must be crossed. During competition, teams are judged on a variety of factors including cost reports, design reports and decisions, acceleration performance, braking performance, suspension performance, and a four hour long endurance race. | |
