Honor Societies

Being one of the top leaders is an honor worthy of prestigious recognition. Rochester Institute of Technology is proud to offer members of the Greek community The National Order of Omega, Rho Lambda, and Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Societies.
  • The National Order of Omega
The Epsilon Xi chapter is RIT’s local chapter of The National Order of Omega. Membership is open to qualified junior and senior undergraduate Greek-affiliated students by application each year.

  • Rho Lambda Honor Society
Rho Lambda is the National Panhellenic Recognition Honor Society. RIT’s Gamma Xi chapter was charter August 15, 1994. It is now one of 104 active chapters in the nation. Candidates for membership must submit an application to the Office of Greek Life. Rho Lambda will then extend an invitation to those who qualify.

  • Gamma Sigma Alpha
Juniors or Seniors with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average are eligible for membership. The Eta chapter at RIT was chartered September 10, 1992.

Tree of Angels

This annual project is where the Greek community celebrates the holiday season of giving with a lighting of the Greek Angel Tree to benefit East House of Rochester, a non-profit mental health agency. RIT Greek students “adopt” families and purchase gifts for less fortunate children and grandchildren of East House residents. Each December gifts are placed under the tree during a ceremony and were eventually given to an East House representative for distribution to the families.

Adopt A Highway

Each year the Greek community joins forces to clean up and preserve its surrounding community via the Adopt A Highway program. RIT’s Greeks beautify a section of East River Road during Brick City Festival.

Greek Weekend

Greek Weekend is a weekend set aside for fraternity and sorority members to come together to compete in athletic games, serve the Rochester community, and most importantly, have fun while doing it.

NGLA

The Northeast Greek Leadership Association exists to promote the founding principles and positive traditions of all Greek letter organizations through opportunities that encourage learning and leadership for the Northeast region. Hundreds of fraternity and sorority leaders from the Northeast attend the Annual Meeting each year to participate in three days of workshops, general sessions and idea sharing. Each participant's conference fee includes conference materials and programs; Thursday's welcome reception, lunch Friday and Saturday; and Saturday evening's closing banquet. Our awards program allows us to recognize the outstanding efforts of Greek governing councils and celebrate our accomplishments. RIT encourages all Greek members to attend.

Greek Housing

Fraternities and sororities at RIT offer a wide variety of housing options to members. Each offers different benefits for chapter members. The newest additions are the freestanding houses located on the West side of campus next to the Crossroads complex, referred to as the Greek Circle. Currently, there are four fraternities and two sororities living there. The houses offer suite-style double rooms, in-house laundry facilities, a chapter room, and a large social room adjoining a full kitchen.

You will also find six chapters residing on the East - residence halls - end of campus. These houses are specially renovated dorm floors that offer lounges and, in some cases, large basements for chapter recreation and activities.

A full half of the chapters at RIT do not have an "official" house. These groups function with either one or more off-campus apartments, or in a few cases, an off-campus house. Members find this situation beneficial because it allows them live where they want and with friends that are
non-members, if desired.

Greek Newsletter

Between The Columns, a publication from the Office of Greek Life, is a monthly newsletter highlighting outstanding individual and chapter accomplishments as well as what is happening in the Greek system. The newsletter is available online during in school session.
