Welcome RIT Students!
I am glad that you are here during such an exciting year! This year we welcome Dr. William Destler as our new President, and Student Government is anxious to work with him to improve our campus. RIT is a place where you will find eight unique colleges, over 155 different clubs, nine major student organizations, 29 Greek chapters, and over 17,000 students. Put simply, there is something here for everyone to be involved with. For some of you, this is your first quarter in college. For others, you are returning from a well-rested summer vacation or co-op. As your college career progresses, you will have tons of opportunities to become involved. You might pledge a fraternity or sorority, apply to be Resident Advisor, join a club, or become involved in Student Government itself.
Take advantage of the opportunities RIT has to offer you! Your professors and academic advisors are here to help you along your career paths, so benefit from their knowledge and experiences. College is a time for you to experiment with ideas and meet new people. RIT is a unique place where you might find yourself starting a new open source project, or creating a new business plan. Either way, RIT is a place that will prepare you for the real world, but you need to take advantage of the opportunities available for you.
Student Government is here to serve our students and community. We provide many services such as professor evaluations, rentable vans, a ride board, and even a lawyer, to name a few. We are located in the RITreat at the SAU, so please feel free to come by and say ?hello.? You?ll find that my office door is always open because I want to know how I can best represent you. I am always anxious to meet and talk with other students. Student Government is made up of many student leaders involved with their colleges, clubs, and organizations. Together, we work to empower our students to achieve their goals. Most importantly, we're here to make sure you enjoy your colege experience.
Be Empowered. Achieve. Welcome to RIT!
